Can I download content for offline use?
Yes, but not by default. Your account can be flagged offline downloading.
However most movies on Plex are 20+ gigs in size, and may take a while to send and receive. Remember this is coming over a home internet connection, not a data center.
You can request downloading privileges here.
Will media have subtitles?
Generally yes, but its not a guarantee.
If you notice anything lacking subtitles and would like to request them you can reach out or use the issue button in Seerr.
Can you or I get in trouble for this?
The server ingests media through secure means, namely Usenet which is private by design, and a torrent client that is behind a VPN.
So no one sees what data comes in.
Once stored on the server the content is then steamed out to you via Plex’s Relay System which is end to end encrypted
Does this cost money to run?
Why yes! Yes it does! Ignoring the high up front costs of Plex Pass and hard drives, the server needs active subscriptions to Usenet, a VPN, and this domain to remain up and secure.
Without doing the exact math its anywhere from $12~$15 per month to run.
Cheaper then Netflix's least expensive plan.
